School Supplies

One thing with going to school you get to go buy new school supplies and clothes . Well with homeschooling I make sure I get the kids new supplies for the new school year, I think it makes it more fun to start the new school year with new supplies. I also love stocking up with the sales. I have just begun watching the sales and I stocked up on glue sticks and crayons so far 20 cents a package you cant beat that.

I am going to go back and get some more. I also like to use them for gifts for little kids I like to make a basket full of craft stuff like this they seem to enjoy it. So all of the supplies are not just for school.

Marys notebook is Hello Kitty and Micahs is Camo!

They got matching spiral notebooks and folders too.

The twins are here

Riley He was 4 lbs 14 oz and 17 inches long and Kaitlyn was 3 lbs 10 oz and 16 inches long. I delivered at 35 1/2 weeks.

My birth story from what I can remember. Things seem a little fuzzy from all the medications. Hopefully I dont miss to much.

Well Last Tuesday April 8 Started out as a normal day but little did I know what lied ahead.

Tuesday Morning I met Pamela at our Ultrasound appointment. They measured and tested the babies and they both passed and looked great. I went home and made lunch for my kids then took Mary to her dance class. I came home had a bite to eat (little did I know it was the last thing I would eat for 3 days) Then went to my OB appointment.

My OB appointment was the regular Pee in a cup, get weighed and get your blood pressure taken. The nurse took my blood pressure and said well your blood pressure is up it was 147 over 97. She then tested my urine for protein and then she said I was spilling protein. So she was going to go tell my Dr. My Dr. came into the room and said well your blood pressure gains you admission into the hospital it also looks like you are developing preeclampsia . I was a little shocked. I tried to negotiate with her and asked if I could just go home on bed rest for the night and come back in the morning. She told me No that there was no negotiating. So the reality of it hit me and I started crying. She said to drive over to the hospital and they would admit me.

I leave the Dr.s office and I drove home first since I had nothing with me. My husband had just been called out of town for work and so I needed to find someone to come stay with the kids for the night also. I called Pamela on the way home Im suprised she could even understand me with my crying and told her what was happening and she was so great and said she would meet me at the hospital and stay with me.

I got home and grabbed my things and made arrangements for the kids and went on my way to the hospital.

I got to the hospital and they had my room all ready for me. I went in the bathroom to put on my gown and I started bawling again I just Knew this was it. They had told me it was just for evaluation for the night but deep down I knew I wouldnt be leaving without having the babies. I gained my composure and climbed into my hospital bed.

The nurse came in and got me all hooked up to the monitors. Monitoring 2 babies can be very difficult they were so active . We would get them all on the monitor then they would disappear.

Pamela showed up which was such a relief to see her as I was feeling quite alone. As we were talking I was noticing my contractions. I have had lots of contractions over the weeks but these seemed to get stronger and more painful. I told the nurse so they started monitoring my contractions. They seemed to be getting very regular and long. The Dr. on Duty came in to check me and said I was only dilated to a 2 and it was false labor. So they gave me 2 bags of IV fluids to see if the reason I was contracting was due to being dehydrated. It made the contractions not come as frequently but after awhile they came back. So they decided to give me some pain medicine. So they put the pain medicine in my IV line and I started to not feel right. I felt like I was having a hard time breathing then next thing I knew I was waking up hearing Cheryl can you hear me? I guess It made me pass out. Im not quite sure how long I was out, It seemed like mere seconds but from what I hear it was longer than that. So then they decide to give me another medication to try to get the contractions to go away. That seemed to start working and I was able to rest. About 2 AM or so my husband showed up. He was able to get off the train in Albany and get a ride back to be with me. Pamela and Steve decided to head home and get some rest.

The morning came and my regular OB came in to check on me . My blood work wasnt coming back very good my platets were down and my blood pressure was still up. My contractions had also picked up again so she decided to check my cervix and I was dilating more. I was up to a 3 and a half. So the contractions were doing something. So she decided that I was in Labor afterall and with everything else it was time to deliver the babies. So I called Pamela and told her we would be having a Csection approx around 4pm or so.

I was laying there and was resting and the Dr came back and said we would be delivering earlier so to call Pamela back and tell her it would be in the next hour or so. So I called Pamela back and said it would be sooner than expected.I could hear the panic in her voice. I called my husband and told him to head back soon also as he had gone home to shower.

The anesthesiologist came into my room and discussed how the C section would go and for me to sign papers. At that time I was getting scared. As any surgery can be scary.

My husband showed up then Pamela and Steve and the kids showed up. It seemed like all of a sudden everything was happening so fast it was almost surreal.

I know I didnt talk much as I was trying to deal with the contractions and deal with everything else that was going on. I couldnt believe that in less than an hour Pamela and Steve would have their babies and My roll in this would be over. I was ready but I wasnt ready it is hard to explain.

Unfortunately the hospital would only let 1 person in the Operating room. I was pretty unhappy about that but there wasnt anything I could do. So Pamela and Steve decided it would be Steve that would go back with me. Steve got all gussied up in his Operating room attire and they put me in the wheelchair and we got wheeled down to the operating room. They had Steve wait outside the room while they got me situated . They had me get up on the operating table and they had to put the Spinal in. At first the Anesthesiologist was having a hard time finding a spot to put it. Everywhere she tried I could feel her hit a nerve boy did that hurt. But before I knew it the spinal was in and working you could feel the warmth of it going down your legs and my whole body from my belly down was all tingly and numb. They got me all laid down and the anesthesiologist said she was going to run her fingers around my body to see if I felt anything. I told her no I couldnt feel a thing and she said that is great cause I just pinched you so hard you would have slapped me. LOL! They got me all set up and Let steve in. I couldnt even look at him though because I knew I would just break down and start crying as I was soo happy for him.

They started on the C section and they broke my water and you could hear it splashing on the floor I guess I had alot of amniotic fluid. Before I knew it Baby Kaitlyn entered the world she had the cutest little girl cry which made me cry knowing she was ok and she made it here safely. They didnt hold her up so I didnt see her. And then 2 minutes later Riley made his grand entrance they held him up but took off with him I didnt hear him cry. I guess He was having a hard time breathing. The nurse started talking with me I think trying to distract me so I wouldnt worry about Riley. Steve went off with the babies and they sewed me back up. I couldnt believe I did it. All I ever wanted to do was help complete a family for somebody and I did it.

They wheeled me back into my room to recover My dh and the nurse stayed with me for the first hour. After that I am not sure what went on. I do remember Pamela coming in to check on me and show me pictures of the babies. It was so unreal to look at them knowing they were finally here. Knowing who was punching and kicking me all these months. And now they were here with their parents. Simply amazing.

A few hours later I was moved into another hospital room to continue my recovery. The rough part was pain management it seems everything they gave me I am allergic too and would make me itch uncontrollably. I finally begged for anti itch medicine to be put in my IV for some relief. We finally found something after a day or so that worked and I am not allergic too thankfully. I was able to go see the babies in the NICU while I was there. Pamela was very gracious and even took my Dad back there to go see them.

Thank You to Pamela and Steve for trusting me with the babies all these months. Seeing them with their babies just warms my heart. I hope the babies will always know how much I love them. I really miss feeling Kaitlyn and Riley moving all around my tummy. I am so thankful for the time I had with them it is very special to me and they hold a VERY special place in my heart.

Update

I know , I know I lied I have been so busy I havent been keeping my promise about keeping up my blog. Im going to try though. Please bear with me.

Mary has started taking dance classes about a month ago or so. It is so cute to see the little class of 4 and 5 year olds learning Tap and Ballet. She is really intense to watch she wants to do it right soo bad that she pays VERY close attention. Daddy went and watched her practice and she really liked that. She has her recital at the end of June. It should be cute.

Mary in her outfit and Tap shoes!

This pregnancy is going well. It is starting to wind down I think . I am 33 weeks this Sunday. Both babies have stayed laying sideways so I hope when I go to my appointment tomorrow they will have turned head down. If not then I hope we can just go ahead and schedule my c-section. I am having pretty bad back pain and im not sleeping well but I know its only for a season not much longer and these babies will be in their parents arms and I cant wait.

31.5 weeks pregnant with the twins

We booked a trip to Disneyland for the First part of June. We cant wait. We did the Kids fly free through Alaska Airlines and booked a package. It will be a nice getaway for the family. Lets hope I am all healed up by then .

New pink purse

Well Mary's last post about her new purse inspired this post.

I have had a basic black and a basic brown purse I go back and forth with and was just sick and tired of them. So I was browsing Target.com and found this purse I just fell in love with. I definately know it isnt the purse for everyone thats for sure. But I just love pink right now so I thought I would go all pink. I mean I really needed a new pink purse to go with my pink cell phone and then I needed a wallet to match so I found this black one with pink inside. It all just makes me happy to use. Its a fun summer color. So I thought I would share my new purse with you all.
